This is one of the reasons
I didn't get much done in Jan-Feb.Notice the Roosevelt out house.This is how the goverment created jobs in the 30's
by having workers build them.

The cable on the
left is the washer and the right is for the wiper.In this illistration the wiper switch has been turned and the vacuum slide
has been pushed forward.The wiper switch has been turned back and the wire in the cable has retracted.What retracts the vacuum
slide?Is it hooked up wrong?Does vacuum push the slide back?The washer cable will pull it back but I don't know why.Will
look for answers posted on the list.
The washer cable was froze and the square hold down was
worn from moving the cable instead of the wire.The blue shim is a pop can cut to tighten the cable so just the wire moves.

This was copied
from the T-Bird service letters showing some 56 and 57's used this washer - wiper configeration.When I found this article
I knew what my problem was.In picture 12, I stated the washer cable was froze and thought the hold down was worn
from moving the wire and cable together so I shimed it to tighten the cable so just the wire would move.In the letter it says
to lub the cable so it slides.Here is how it works:When you turn the wiper on the cable pushes the slide and the
washer wire and cable also.The washer cable is hooked to the wiper cable so when you turn the wiper off it pulls the washer
cable hooked to the vacuum slide back.When you push the washer pedel the cable pushes the slide and turns the wipers on without
using the wiper switch.
